What plans for the weekend?

Hey!! What plans for the weekend? Or how was your weekend? A great way to start the conversation. But do you really care for my response? Or are you even listening?

I might be rude, but I really don't think anyone cares what I plan to do over the weekend or how did it go? In fact, if I say I'm just gonna be at home - I shall be called lazy bum or don't you have friends to go out with? How difficult is it to understand that I have my own things to do? Other way round, it could be like he/she parties all the time. Can't it get a little sober? So, why should I bother answering your question when I know I'm gonna be judged for every response. To be honest, I don't care either what are your plans? I have zero interest to indulge myself in these small talks.

Oh, did you just call me arrogant? Well, you can say what you like. After all, it's your freedom. But, let me tell you, I will ask you your plans when I really mean it. I might be trying to see if you have some spare time to spend with me. Or if you need me by any chance. I'm sort of stingy with set of people to ask how are they doing or anything similar on that lines.

Did I just change from arrogant to introvert? Really?? No, I'm not. An extrovert? No again!! These are 2 extreme behaviors and everyone often tries to fit the people in one of 2 categories. But the truth is vast majority of people are neither of those. I have been unusually reticent with few people and then I talk non stop with others. Of course, first list is way bigger than second and second one keeps shrinking.

It's a natural phenomenon. Life changes and peoples' priorities change too. You could have been someone's best friend yesterday and today you barely have a connection. Think about the people you called your best friends in college or may be just an year back. What happened? Did you do something wrong? Did the other person do something wrong? No, life changed in unexpected ways for both of you and neither of you could handle it.

While being surrounded by numerous people, I just want the people with whom I can be in my own skin and speak without thinking. If I have to think before talking to a friend - I might be just talking to an acquaintance.
